TINA MITCHELL COACHING BIOGRAPHY
Tina has worked internationally as a Teaching Artist in the United States, Australia, Colombia, Chile and New Zealand. She is an Adjunct Theater Lecturer at Barnard College and Brown University, part of the movement faculty at Maggie Flanigan Studios, teaches for the SITI Company, and is a Guest Instructor at Atlantic Theater School. She also works as a Visiting Professor at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana de Bogotá, Colombia. She has conducted workshops in many other international institutions including San Francisco State University, The University of New Hampshire, Unitec New Zealand, The University of South Australia and Flinders University among others.
Tina has trained extensively with the SITI Company in New York, has undergone training with Cicely Berry, Carol Rosenfeld at HB Studios and The Suzuki Company of Toga among others. A graduate of the Adelaide College of the Arts, Tina holds a Masters of Arts Practice specializing in Performance.
Tina has taught actors and student actors of all ages in various institutions including universities, acting conservatories, casting agencies, theatre companies, dance companies, youth theatre companies and high schools. She runs regular physical theatre workshops in Sydney, Australia through Chopt Logic Productions.
Having worked with high profile companies from around the world, Tina has extensive knowledge of the audition process from the perspective of both the actor and director. She has coached actors for many years, in the art of audition preparation with consistently successful results. Former students have worked with the likes of Sir Ian McKellan in Waiting for Godot, and Clive Owen in the film The Boys are Back. Specializing in monologue and scene coaching for theater, Tina has sat on the audition panels for drama institutions in Australia and past students have successfully auditioned for some of the world’s best acting conservatories including the UK’s prestigious RADA and NIDA, the Australian training ground of Cate Blanchett and Mel Gibson.
Tina’s vast knowledge of acting technique includes training in Stanislavski, Meisner, Shakespeare, Hagen technique, Yat Malmgren's approach to Laban movement psychology and character analysis, The Suzuki Method of Actor Training, Viewpoints, improvisation and physical embodiment. With a strong focus on physical transformation, text analysis, thought progression, character objectives and tactics, Tina’s sessions are structured to showcase each actor’s individual strengths and encourage bold unique choices to make each audition stand out from the crowd.
Offering one on one coaching as well as small group sessions, Tina conducts coaching in person in New York City and online via Zoom. International actors welcome.
